The Dream Starts Again.

I am going to receive one of the best cameras on Saturday. The camera is the Nikon D700. I ordered the camera.

I ordered the Grip.

I ordered an extra battery and 2 4GB cards.

I ordered the 50mm 1.4.

The Combo ran me about $3,700 which is completely insane and if my family is reading this I apologize. I know I am out of my mind. But with no college degree and being a technician will not pay the bills forever. I will take over the world. One city at a time.

I am so incredibly happy about the opportunity to change the way I have been shooting and these 2 months without a camera has felt so painful yet refreshing. I want to shoot so bad ;) I would like to thank Alan and JP for letting me borrow their cameras when it was hard.

I am going to be such a picture whore when I get this thing.

iPhone 3G... Since Day 1.

iPhone and I day 1 I have owned the amazing new phone since the 11th and now I have 40+ Apps on it. I enjoy the new 2.0 software and the ability to do so many things without having to use the safari app. I had a lot of questions the first few days "is it faster" etc and I did not know because I dont think I opened safari until the 3rd or 4th day of owning it. Attached is an image of me excited day 1

The Dodos @ The Pink Elephant

The Dodo\'s The Dodo\'s

The Dodo\'s

The Dodos seemed to sit in the darkest of the corners. There were 3 band members, one did not move and one did not stop, making it impossible to freeze motion. The third was only in a few shots total and only a couple songs. Its hard to say who stole the show this night.

Lighting: Lighting at the The Pink Elephant is by far the worst venue I have ever attempted to shoot in. I was mostly at 6400 at a very show shutter. Even with the 50mm at 1.8 it was hard to capture light.

Gear: I shot with my Nikon D300 as well as my nifty 50 1.8 and cheap 18-55. I dont mind shooting with the cheap lenses when there is not an allocated photographer area. I set my Auto ISO to shoot between 200-6400. I prefer the D300s image in black and white when shooting at 6400.

Thee Oh Sees @ The Pink Elephant

Thee Oh Sees

Thee Oh Sees were great live but I dont think they expected the paparazzi's to show up. I went with 2 other photographers and we all were snapping away in the dimmest venue yet. I pulled off some great shots at iso 3200 and above, my camera never dropped below that.

Dajjal Persona @ Soma

Dajjal Persona

Dajjal Persona had a great stage presence.

Lighting: Lighting at the Soma’s side stage is painful but not as bad some venues. The lights are constantly changing and it doesnt help when the band does not stay still.
